Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna Introduces DO OR DYE ACT to Codify MAHA Agenda
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna (FL-13) introduced the Do or Dye Act of 2025, landmark legislation aimed at eliminating dangerous petroleum-based food dyes from products sold in the United States. The bill will codify and expand upon the directive issued by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to phase out eight artificial dyes linked to serious health risks—particularly in children.
“For too long, the FDA has turned a blind eye while toxic, petroleum-based dyes like Red 40 and Yellow 5 have flooded our grocery shelves—often in foods marketed directly to kids,” said Rep. Luna. “The Do or Dye Act puts an end to this insanity and takes real action to protect American families. It’s time we stop feeding our children chemicals that are banned in other countries. Let’s Make America Healthy Again.”
Key Provisions of the Do or Dye Act:
• Complete Ban on Citrus Red No. 2 and Orange B by December 31, 2025
• Phase-out of Green No. 3, Red No. 40, Yellow No. 5, Yellow No. 6, Blue No. 1, and Blue No. 2 by December 31, 2026
• Codifies Secretary Kennedy’s food safety directive into federal law
• Addresses rising concerns about the impact of artificial dyes on child development, behavior, and long-term health.
The legislation comes amid growing bipartisan demand for cleaner food standards and increasing scientific evidence linking synthetic dyes to hyperactivity, allergies, and potential carcinogenic effects.
National Momentum and Industry Support
Secretary Kennedy’s call to phase out these dyes has already been met with widespread support. Major food companies, including PepsiCo, Danone North America, TreeHouse Foods, and Tyson, have announced plans to comply and begin removing the dyes from their product lines.
“This is not a partisan issue. It’s a parenting issue, a public health issue, and a common-sense issue,” Luna added. “The science is clear. The people are demanding change. And now, the law must follow.”
